Once a year, I pick a book that has shaped me as a writer and reader — a classic that you know, but maybe never read. While DRACULA may seem like an obvious choice for October, it’s also a launching pad for our November pick (and debut Inky Phoenix Press publication) STRANGE BEASTS(October 15th 2024)! 

One of our main STRANGE BEASTS characters is Samantha Harker, daughter of Mina Harker from the original Dracula. Care to get to know our girl’s family tree?

During this phase, we're reviewing manuscripts and deciding which book we want to publish. At the end of this phase, we offer an author a book deal.

Consideration

As the manuscript goes through several phases of editorial work, the cover and interior design takes place, while format decisions about paper stocks and printing treatments are made.

Editorial & Design

While the books are on press, the pre-order links go live and the marketing campaign ramps up with waves of review copy mailings to media and influencers.

My love for books runs deep. Bookstores were my favorite place to visit as a child, I received a double major in English Literature and Drama from the University of Virginia, and I went on to author *The Women's Health Big Book of Yoga* and *Aim True*. My most recent work was published in Zosia Mamet’s anthology, *My First Popsicle*, but my true loves have yet to meet the world — I too write fiction, and long to see it in published form. I co-host Free Cookies with my wife (and author!), Kate Fagan, where we banter and interview notables such as Madeline Miller, TJ Klune, George M. Johnson, and Emily St. John Mandel. Plus, we have the cutest rescue pup in the world: Ragnar Ashison.
